There is a saying that goes: 'Jaw, jaw, not war, war!' How important it is to dialogue and converse. It is so much better to talk something through than to burst in to action that we might later regret. Likewise, it is no bad idea to start our day and finish it with time spent with God. Time spent in prayer is not wasted time, not fruitfless time.
At the very least it can give us peace and have a calming effect. It can also give shape and purpose to our lives. We can be too quick to ask God to bless our plans. How about trying to find out what God's plans are!
There is another saying that goes: 'If you are too busy to pray, you are too busy!'
Lord, help me to overcome the obstacles which prevent me from making time to pray. Help me cultivate within the virtues of humility, trust and perseverance.
